In the summer of 1981, a recent arrival to Denver, Colorado, found his life cut tragically short. Casimiro Villalobos, a 39-year-old male, had just returned from Mexico and was settling into the city. On the evening of June 14th, he decided to visit the Elbow Room Lounge, a local bar situated at the corner of 20th and Larimer Streets, for a few drinks. The night took a fatal turn when Mr.
Villalobos excused himself and went into the bar's restroom.
Shortly after entering the restroom, the sound of a gunshot rang out. Patrons and staff of the Elbow Room Lounge were thrown into a state of alarm. When the restroom was entered, Casimiro Villalobos was discovered, having been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the victim of a sudden and violent act. The promising new chapter of his life in Denver had been brutally ended.
The Denver Police Department was called to the scene to begin an investigation into the homicide. Despite their efforts, the person or persons responsible for the shooting of Casimiro Villalobos were never identified. The case grew cold over the years, leaving a lingering mystery and an unanswered question of who was responsible for his murder. To this day, the suspect or suspects remain unknown, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case, which remains an open and unsolved homicide.
