A 63-year-old white male, Richard 'Gene' Hammond, was tragically killed on Valentine's Day in 2017. A retired U.S. Marine Major, Hammond was a beloved grandfather and the Director of Transportation for Falcon School District 49. His days began early, and on that Tuesday morning, he left his Denver home between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m. for his job in Fountain, a commute he regularly made. He was driving his 2012 Subaru Impreza, a familiar sight to those who knew his routine.
