In a harrowing turn of events on a September night in 2015, a 34-year-old male named Bobby Brown lost his life in a double shooting in Denver. The incident, which also left a teenage girl critically injured, unfolded outside an apartment building in the 13000 block of Albrook Drive.
The Denver Police Department responded to reports of the shooting at approximately 11:12 p.m. on September 16, 2015.
A police officer who was nearby heard the gunfire and was able to quickly respond to the scene. This rapid response led to the swift arrest of the suspect, Jessie L. Oliver, who was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Witnesses at the scene identified Oliver as the shooter.
Following the shooting, both Bobby Brown and the teenage girl were transported to a local hospital. Brown, a father of four, succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The teenage girl was shot in the back and was listed in critical condition.
Jessie Oliver was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault. In April 2017, after a six-day trial, a jury found Oliver guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. Oliver had a prior criminal record, including a conviction for weapon possession by a previous offender and a sentence for pimping.
