Oscar Martinez, a 42-year-old man, was killed on December 6, 2016, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was fatally shot near an apartment complex in the Security-Widefield area on or around the 500 block of Security Boulevard, a residential corridor southeast of the city's core. Residents described waking to the aftermath of a sudden burst of violence outside the building, the kind of predawn shock that leaves a courtyard hushed and taped off under the glow of cruiser lights.
