On June 1, 2018, Hyun Kim, a 45-year-old man, was fatally shot by his Uber driver, Michael Hancock, in the early-morning hours in Denver, Colorado. The incident occurred after Hancock picked up Kim from an Aurora karaoke spot where Kim had been with friends. Despite Kim's intended stop being just a couple of miles away, he did not get out of the car, and Hancock continued driving.
