In the winter of 2018, a burst of violence in an East Denver apartment complex shattered the holiday season, leaving two families mourning and a community in shock. On December 22nd, shots rang out near East Alameda Avenue, resulting in a triple shooting that claimed the lives of two men and injured a woman. One of the men who tragically lost his life was Alpha Balde, a 28-year-old male. Another man, Henry Bizimana, 23, was also fatally shot and died at the scene.
The third victim, a woman, was fortunate to survive and was treated and released from the hospital.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, a swift police investigation was launched to bring justice to the victims. The Denver Police Department worked diligently, and their efforts quickly led to a significant development in the case. Late on the same Saturday night of the incident, authorities arrested 29-year-old Nicholas Bradley Dansby. He was taken into custody and held for investigation of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Following the arrest of Dansby, the Denver Police Department announced that they were not searching for any other suspects in connection with the deadly shooting. The arrest brought a measure of resolution to the case, though it could not undo the tragic loss of Alpha Balde and Henry Bizimana. The incident was part of a violent weekend in Denver, with the city grappling with multiple homicide investigations during that period.
