In the early morning hours of a Sunday in Denver, Colorado, a 54-year-old attorney named Wesley Rosander was at work when he received an alert that his truck was being stolen. Having been the victim of vehicle theft once before, Rosander had installed a tracking device on his pickup. Determined to keep an eye on his property until police could intervene, he made the fateful decision to follow the thieves, utilizing a hotel shuttle van to pursue them.
The chase ended tragically near East
40th Avenue and Chambers Road. At some point during the pursuit, Rosander was shot. The shuttle van he was driving then crashed. The perpetrator or perpetrators fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Emergency services rushed Rosander to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved fatal. He was a father of two and had only recently moved to Denver in October of that year.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Denver Police Department located Rosander's stolen truck in the Montbello neighborhood. However, the investigation into his death has not led to any arrests, and no description of a suspect or suspects has been publicly released. The case is considered an open and unsolved homicide.
