In the summer of 2015, in the small city of Deming, New Mexico, a violent encounter led to the death of Hispanic / Latino male Richard Perez, age 37. On the evening of July 5th, Deming police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Gold Street following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Richard Perez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Mimbres Memorial Hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
