On a tragic day in June of 2017, a wave of violence swept through the quiet communities of northern New Mexico, culminating in the senseless death of 59-year-old Manuel J. Serrano of Youngsville. The harrowing events of June 15th began in La Madera, where a young man, 21-year-old Damian Herrera, was involved in a domestic dispute that ended in the fatal shooting of his mother, Maria Rosita Gallegos, his stepfather, Max Trujillo, and his brother, Brendon Herrera.
