On the morning of April 30, 2020, the quiet of a neighborhood in Bloomfield, New Mexico was broken by the sound of gunfire. In the 900 block of West Maple Street, a 51-year-old male resident, Leodis Williams, was shot. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Williams, who was pronounced dead from his injuries. The sudden violence prompted a swift and widespread investigation, creating a sense of urgency to bring those responsible to justice.
The investigation quickly became
a multi-agency effort, with the Bloomfield Police Department receiving assistance from numerous law enforcement agencies in the region, including the San Juan County Sheriff's Office and the New Mexico State Police.
