On a summer day in August of 2021, the life of a young boy from Clovis, New Mexico, was tragically cut short. Four-year-old Barrett Story, a White male, died on August 25, 2021, from a gunshot wound he sustained the previous day.

The incident that led to the child's death occurred within the family's home. Barrett was a happy little boy known for his love of dinosaurs, farm animals, and Hot Wheels cars. He was the son of Justin Story and Shana M. Wilde.
