On January 11, 2025, Tony Cristan, an 18-year-old male, was discovered by emergency personnel on the ground at an apartment complex located in the 1000 block of North Ash in Clovis, New Mexico. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM, with Cristan suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso and head areas. He was initially transported to Plains Regional Medical Center and subsequently transferred to a hospital in Lubbock, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement
acted swiftly in the case, with two 16-year-old male suspects being arrested in connection with the shooting death. One of the teenage suspects was charged with murder, conspiracy, and tampering with evidence, while the second suspect faced charges of tampering with evidence and harboring or aiding a felon. The Major Crimes Unit was activated to handle the investigation.
Tony Cristan was born on June 18, 2006, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Tony and Sally Cristan. He was known for his infectious smile and quick humor, leaving behind a grieving family including his father Tony Cristan, mother Sally Cristan, brother Ramon Cristan, and sister Chastidy Dominguez. He was also survived by his girlfriend Ayana Saiz, and several family members including nephews Vicente Cristan, Elias Cristan, Aiden Dominguez, and Jose DeHerra, as well as his niece, Lileanna Cristan.
The Clovis Police Department continued to seek additional information regarding the incident, encouraging the public to contact their non-emergency line or submit anonymous tips through their tip411 program and Curry County Crime Stoppers.
