On Sunday, September 4, 1904, Patrolman Alfred Mitchell Sturdivant of the Boston Police Department was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty. The incident occurred when Officer Sturdivant responded to a domestic disturbance at a home located on Falcon Street in East Boston. The male resident of the home had reported that his wife had chased him out of the house with a pistol, prompting the police to intervene.
