Honorio Hernandez, aged 23, was killed on August 3, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. The homicide occurred in the midst of a violent summer that saw an uptick in gun-related violence across the city. Hernandez’s death was the result of a shooting, a common form of violence in Chicago, especially during this time when the city experienced elevated numbers of gun-related homicides.
