Briona White, a 22-year-old student from Kansas State University, was fatally shot on August 6, 2015, in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood on the city's Far South Side. She was walking with her 20-year-old boyfriend when both were targeted in a shooting that saw them fired upon more than a dozen times. White was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries. The young man with her, reportedly a former gang member, died at the scene.
