In February of 1984, the body of 26-year-old Vincent DeNino, a male drug dealer from Lynn, was discovered in the trunk of a car in a supermarket parking lot in Revere, Massachusetts. An investigation revealed he had been shot once in the shoulder and four times in the head. Authorities alleged that the motive for the killing was DeNino's refusal to pay a $10,000 debt related to a cocaine deal.
Three men, including reputed mobster Darin Bufalino, were suspected and ultimately charged with
the shooting death of DeNino. Following the homicide, Bufalino fled the country to Ireland, where he worked as a pub bouncer. He was later jailed in 1987 for the Lynn murder after moving to Spain and was extradited back to the United States in 1989 to face trial.
Despite the charges and the international effort to bring him to justice, Darin Bufalino and the two other men were acquitted of Vincent DeNino's murder. The acquittal came after a judge made the decision to suppress wiretap evidence that was a key component of the prosecution's case. No one was ever convicted for the death of Vincent DeNino.
