On the night of October 23, 1989, Carol Ann DiMaiti Stuart, a 30-year-old pregnant White/Caucasian female, was shot in the head in Boston, Massachusetts. She and her husband, Charles "Chuck" Stuart, had just left a birthing class at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Charles, who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen, called 911 from his car phone, claiming that a Black man in a tracksuit had carjacked them at a stoplight, robbed them, and then shot them in the Mission Hill neighborhood.
