On September 9, 2001, at approximately 2:45 AM, a tragic incident occurred in New Bedford, Massachusetts, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Marcus Cruz. The incident took place at the corner of Chancery and Kempton Streets, where Cruz was found shot on the sidewalk behind a van. He was immediately transported to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
