Cheri O. Robinson, a 35-year-old White/Caucasian female from Spencer, Massachusetts, became the victim of a violent death on May 11, 2007. A dedicated employee, she had worked for 17 years as a wafer fab operator at Allegro Microsystems in Worcester. Concern arose when she uncharacteristically failed to show up for work for several consecutive days without calling in, prompting her coworkers to notify the police on May 15, 2007.
Friends also grew worried when they were unable to reach her at her home.
The investigation into her disappearance took a grim turn when police visited her apartment. Although no one answered, her husband, 40-year-old Paul Robinson, contacted the Spencer Police Department shortly after their visit. During the phone call, he became agitated and told police that he may have "hurt" his wife a few days prior and that he was armed. This led to a police standoff at their School Street apartment, during which he provided vague details about her whereabouts. After a nearly three-hour negotiation, he released their two children, a 9-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son, before taking his own life. Investigators believe he murdered his wife before committing suicide.
Following the standoff, the search for Cheri Robinson continued. Her body was eventually discovered in a shallow grave in the woods behind an abandoned school. The state medical examiner determined that she had died from a gunshot wound to the head. Cheri was remembered as a wonderful, happy, and cheerful person by those who knew her. She was a mother of two children, a son and a daughter.
