On a spring evening in Brockton, Massachusetts, the life of 15-year-old Olivier Michel Oliver Baptiste, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On March 25, 2008, Baptiste, a tenth-grade student at Brockton High School, was fatally shot. The incident stemmed from a dispute over a bicycle that had been stolen from the younger brother of Joao Pires-Ribeiro.
