On a Sunday afternoon in January 2018, the life of a White / Caucasian male named Christopher Morris came to a tragic end during a traffic stop in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. The 47-year-old, who had previously lived in Lynnfield but was residing in Wakefield at the time, was pronounced dead on January 21, 2018.
The events leading to his death began shortly before 5 p.m. when the Lynnfield Police Department received multiple 911 calls about an erratic driver on Main Street.
Officers located the vehicle near the Sagamore Spring Golf Club and initiated a traffic stop. When they approached the driver, identified as Christopher Morris, they observed that he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
As the officers requested that Morris exit his vehicle to perform a field sobriety test, the situation took a devastating turn. Morris took his own life. A spokesperson for the Essex County District Attorney's office later confirmed that the death was an apparent suicide. State troopers who responded to the scene confirmed that no shots were fired by any of the officers present.
