On the evening of May 27, 2019, Zachariah Ramsey, a 29-year-old Black/African American man, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in Springfield, Massachusetts. The shooting took place in the vicinity of Parker and Kazbeck Streets. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The Springfield Police Department's Homicide Unit, in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney's Office's Murder Unit, launched an investigation

Zachariah Nevill Ramsey was born in Springfield on June 30, 1989. He was a celebrated amateur boxer with a number of accolades to his name, including being a three-time Western Massachusetts Golden Gloves Champion and a two-time New England Golden Gloves Champion. Known for his dedication to the sport, he made his professional debut in May 2012. Beyond his athletic pursuits, Ramsey was a father of two and was remembered by his community as a positive and humble individual who dedicated his time to teaching boxing to young people.
