In the early morning hours of March 20, 2021, the quiet of a Charlestown neighborhood in Boston was shattered by violence. Jawad Muhammad, a 33-year-old Black / African American man from Mattapan, was found dead inside a home at 6 Mystic Place. Boston police responded to a call for a person shot at approximately 3:21 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Muhammad suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of Boston EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The residence where the fatal shooting occurred was located on a small, dead-end street. Neighbors later reported that the property, owned by a professional hockey player, was being used as a short-term rental and had been the site of frequent weekend parties. On the morning of the incident, witnesses described a chaotic scene with people fleeing the house in multiple directions. Shouts and screams were heard, including a man yelling "go, go, go" and a woman exclaiming, "I'm scared, I'm scared." A white car was also reportedly seen driving in the area shortly after the shooting, which police believe may be connected to the case.

The Boston Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Jawad Muhammad's death, which remains active and ongoing. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact the Boston Police Homicide Detectives. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. The investigation continues as questions surrounding the circumstances of the shooting and who is responsible for Muhammad's death remain unanswered.
