In the early hours of a summer morning, the life of Malcolm Dorsey, a 29-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On June 11, 2022, in Methuen, Massachusetts, Dorsey became a victim of gun violence. The incident that led to his death unfolded on Gage Street, where police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 2:40 a.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were rendered at the scene by the Methuen Police and EMTs from the Methuen Fire Department. The victim was then rushed to Holy Family Hospital in an attempt to save his life. Despite these efforts, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Essex County District Attorney's office has confirmed that an active investigation into the shooting is being conducted. Investigators have stated that they do not believe this was a random act of violence and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Born in Roxbury, MA, on April 1, 1993, to Yvette Barber and James Dorsey, Malcolm was known to many by the nickname "ICEY." He attended Nathan Hale Elementary School, Mildred Avenue Middle School, and the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. As a child, he developed a passion for cars, which he carried into his adult life by starting his own business detailing cars and tinting windows. Those who knew him remember his big, distinctive laugh and his ability to make friends and family laugh.
At the time of this writing, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Malcolm Dorsey. The investigation into his death remains ongoing.
