On a summer afternoon in Portland, Oregon, the life of Eric Jordan, a 32-year-old white man, came to a violent and sudden end. On June 14, 1995, a concerned neighbor on the 3300 block of SE 143rd Avenue called 911 around 12:10 p.m. to report that their neighbor was in agony. When officers arrived, they found Jordan on the porch of his home, suffering from a gunshot wound. He died at the scene shortly after.
