On a summer afternoon in Portland, Oregon, the life of Eric Jordan, a 32-year-old white man, came to a violent and sudden end. On June 14, 1995, a concerned neighbor on the 3300 block of SE 143rd Avenue called 911 around 12:10 p.m. to report that their neighbor was in agony. When officers arrived, they found Jordan on the porch of his home, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He died at the scene shortly after.
Investigators learned that Jordan, who worked for a drywall company, also supported himself by growing marijuana. He was last seen alive just a few minutes before he emerged from his residence, wounded, suggesting the shooting occurred inside his house. The events that transpired in those few minutes inside his home remain a mystery.
Despite the passage of time, no arrests have ever been made in connection with Eric Jordan's murder, and no suspects have been publicly identified. His death is now considered a cold case. The Portland Police Bureau's Cold Case Homicide Unit continues to seek information from the public that might lead to a breakthrough in the unsolved killing. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward, offering the possibility of a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest.
