On May 21, 2018, Wesley Joe Newell, a 69-year-old White male, died in Blodgett, Oregon. Newell was a life-long resident of the Blodgett area and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a Green Beret in the Special Forces during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Newell became a business owner, operating a concrete construction company and at one time, one of the largest nightclubs in nearby Corvallis. He was a father to three sons and a grandfather to nine grandchildren
