On a summer day in Grants Pass, Oregon, the life of 43-year-old Julie Marie Names, a White/Caucasian female, was tragically cut short. On July 31, 2020, Names sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The incident that led to her death occurred near Stratton Creek in the early morning hours, just before 2 a.m.
Following the shooting, Julie Names was driven to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center by Travis Vaughn Albins, a 41-year-old man from Grants Pass.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Names was unconscious, and despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead. Authorities were alerted, and Albins was interviewed by the police at the medical center.
The investigation into Names' death quickly focused on Travis Albins. It was revealed that he and Names were living together at a camp near Galice and were described as longtime domestic partners. Based on their investigation and the interview with Albins, police arrested him in connection with the fatal shooting.
Travis Vaughn Albins was subsequently booked on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon. It was also reported that Albins had a history of domestic violence, a factor that was considered during the investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of Julie Names. Born on May 4, 1977, in Santa Rosa, California, Julie had moved to Grants Pass 17 years prior to her death. She was known as a hardworking individual, holding a server position at Red Lobster for 16 years, managing Inside the Box, and running her own cleaning business.
