On the evening of August 17, 1905, a male lawman by the name of Deputy Sheriff Robert Murphy was engaged in the transport of a prisoner within Logan County, West Virginia. Having successfully extradited the individual from Buchanan County, Virginia, he, along with the sheriff and another man, were making their way between Logan and Holden on a railroad velocipede.
