Martel J. Howard, also known as "Telly," was a 24-year-old man who was fatally shot on January 21, 2016, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident took place during a period of increasing violence in the city, particularly in neighborhoods that were already struggling with high crime rates and socioeconomic challenges. Martel Howard was outside when he was approached by an assailant who opened fire, shooting him multiple times and resulting in his death.
