According to police reports, the shooting was the outcome of an argument between Gomez and another man. During the altercation, the other individual pulled a gun and shot Gomez in the chest and shoulder.
Gomez was immediately taken to Stroger Hospital by ambulance, where he was initially listed in critical condition. However, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
