In the late summer of 2000, 10-year-old Natasha Alex Carter, a White female, vanished along with her mother, Susan Carter. The two were last seen on August 8, 2000, in Beckley, West Virginia. At the time of their disappearance, Susan was embroiled in a bitter custody dispute with Natasha’s father, Rick Lafferty. She had reportedly told him he would never see his daughter again, leading authorities to initially suspect that Susan had abducted Natasha. A felony kidnapping warrant was issued for ...
