On May 28, 2016, a verbal argument between Harald Martinson, a 35-year-old White male, and his girlfriend spiraled into a fatal encounter in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Martinson, who was known to friends and family as "Marty," was shot and killed by his girlfriend, Jennifer Jean Pendias.
