On October 16, 2016, a tragic incident occurred in the area of Dogwood Road in Freeport, Iowa, just outside of Decorah, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The victims were identified as Sarah Szabo, a 41-year-old woman, and Craig Freilinger, a 55-year-old man, both residents of Decorah.
