In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 20, 2017, the life of 28-year-old Marcus Hampton, a Black male from Davenport, Iowa, was tragically cut short. Responding to reports of gunfire around 4 a.m., Davenport police officers arrived at the 100 block of E. 35th Street to find a chaotic scene. There, they discovered Hampton suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he died shortly after arrival.
