On January 1, 2020, 14-year-old Josiah Woods was shot and killed in Des Moines, Iowa. The incident led to a lengthy investigation by the Des Moines Police Department.

After a year and a half of investigation, the police made a significant breakthrough. On June 21, 2021, Eliza L. Sackie, a 17-year-old, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Josiah Woods' death.
