In the spring of 2021, the life of 26-year-old Davvion Izael Flemings, a Black / African American male, was cut short in a burst of violence on a Thursday evening in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On April 15th, at approximately 9:38 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 1600 block of 32nd Street N.E. Calls flooded the city's Joint Communications Center, with some witnesses reporting the chilling sight of at least two individuals fleeing a residence and speeding away in a vehicle.
