On a cold December evening in Salt Lake City, a meeting that was intended to be a drug transaction turned into a fatal encounter for Mario Zelaya-Zuniga, a 32-year-old Hispanic male from Honduras. On December 19, 2014, Zelaya-Zuniga met with two men, an event that would tragically be his last. He was shot and killed on the sidewalk near the downtown homeless shelter, a place that often serves as a backdrop for the city's untold stories.
