In the summer of 2015, on the Uintah-Ouray Indian Reservation, the life of 20-year-old Sean Lawrence Checora was cut short. On June 14, in the Richardson subdivision of Fort Duchesne, Utah, Checora, a male of Native American descent, was fatally shot once in the chest outside a residence. The initial reports that reached law enforcement painted a picture of a violent drive-by shooting, sparking fear and uncertainty within the community.
