On a Saturday evening in Salt Lake City, a young Hispanic man named Eric Padilla, 18, was spending time with friends. On September 17, 2016, he was at the Sky Harbor Apartments, located near 1820 West and North Temple, visiting a friend. Padilla and two other people were in a bedroom playing video games when a knock came at the door around 9 p.m. When the door was opened, the night took a violent and tragic turn.
