In the small community of Roosevelt, Utah, a grim discovery was made on October 29, 2016, marking a tragic end to the life of 56-year-old James Main Sr., a White male. The events that unfolded began with a concerned phone call to the police from Main Sr. himself. He reported that his son, James Hudson Main Jr., had stolen his firearm and vanished into the mountains near their home.
This call would be one of the final acts of a father who would soon become a victim.
Authorities responding to the situation would later find James Main Sr. deceased, having sustained two gunshot wounds. The focus of the investigation immediately turned to his 33-year-old son, who was now not only a person of interest in a theft but a suspect in a homicide. An alert was issued for James Hudson Main Jr., who had also allegedly abducted two men at gunpoint, forcing them into a vehicle and taking them to a residence where an altercation and a gunshot ensued before he fled.
A multi-state manhunt for James Hudson Main Jr. came to a dramatic end in Grand Junction, Colorado. After leading law enforcement on high-speed chases and crashing a vehicle, he was apprehended. His capture, however, was just the beginning of a lengthy legal process.
