In a tragic turn of events on the morning of January 13, 2017, Louann Anderton, a 48-year-old Caucasian female, lost her life in a West Valley City parking lot. The incident unfolded around 8 a.m. at H&E Equipment Services, where witnesses reported seeing Louann and her estranged husband, Nolan Anderton, arguing inside a vehicle that had entered the lot at a high speed.
The argument escalated, and both individuals exited the car.
Shortly after they got out of the vehicle, Nolan Anderton fired multiple shots, striking Louann. He then turned the gun on himself, sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Emergency services arrived to find both Louann and Nolan unresponsive with gunshot wounds. They were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but both ultimately succumbed to their injuries.
At the time of the incident, the couple was reportedly going through a divorce. Louann was living in Tooele, while Nolan was residing in southern Utah. Authorities did not find any connection between the couple and the location of the shooting. The case was investigated as a murder-suicide, with Nolan Anderton identified as the sole suspect in the death of his wife. Louann was remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who worked as an elderly caregiver.
