On the evening of March 12, 2019, in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy, Utah, 36-year-old Caucasian female Maureen Fiore-Webster and her husband, Jeffrey Webster, returned to their residence. Shortly after their arrival, at approximately 10 p.m., a tranquil evening was shattered by an act of sudden and brutal violence. As her husband was engaged with the home's security system, Maureen's attention was drawn to a sliding glass door that led to their backyard.
It was in that moment that an unknown assailant fired a shotgun through the glass at close range, striking her.
The blast triggered a "glass break" burglar alarm, which prompted a police response to the couple's home. Upon their arrival, officers discovered shotgun shells in the backyard and the shattered sliding glass door. Inside, they found Maureen Fiore-Webster with a gunshot wound to the chest and her husband, Jeffrey, wounded in the thigh. Both were rushed to a nearby medical center for treatment. Tragically, Maureen succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Her husband survived the attack.
