In the summer of 2020, a young Hispanic/Latino woman's life was tragically cut short in Sandy, Utah. On the evening of July 22, 18-year-old Aliani Mejia-Marin was at the Sandy Mobile Home Park located at 223-201 W. Eastgate Drive. A confrontation between two groups erupted, and the dispute quickly escalated to gunfire. Mejia-Marin was struck by a bullet and rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
