William James, a 46-year-old Black/African American man, was fatally shot in Stamford, Connecticut on the evening of Thursday, June 5, 2014. Known to his friends and family as "Buttons," James was in the South End area of the city when the incident occurred. At approximately 8:36 p.m., at the corner of South Pacific Street and Ludlow Street, a male suspect approached James from behind and fired a single shot, striking him in the head.
