In the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut, on the morning of November 22, 2019, the life of 53-year-old Darren George Connolly came to a violent end. Just after 10 a.m., a chilling 911 call was placed from a residence on Mill Hill Avenue. The male caller stated that he had just shot his roommate. This call set in motion a response that would soon uncover a homicide, the city's 15th of the year.
When police officers arrived at the first-floor apartment, they found Darren Connolly deceased.
An autopsy would later confirm that he had died from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Neighbors reported hearing arguing from the apartment the night before and again in the early morning hours leading up to the fatal shooting. The man who made the 911 call, Connolly's roommate, surrendered to the police at the scene and was taken into custody almost immediately.
The apprehended suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was reported to be cooperating with detectives investigating the case. Despite being taken into custody and admitting to the shooting, he was not immediately charged. Law enforcement officials stated that they were still exploring the circumstances that led to Connolly's death and that the investigation was ongoing.
