In the early morning hours of July 15, 2015, a workplace dispute at a U.S. Airways flight training facility in Phoenix, Arizona, turned fatal, ending the life of 34-year-old Eric Kunins. A Black man and a United States Air Force veteran, Kunins worked as a flight simulator technician on the overnight shift. An argument erupted between Kunins and his 52-year-old co-worker, George Hayes Jr., reportedly over a spare part for a flight simulator or the placement of a lightbulb in the stockroom.
