On April 23, 1911, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Police Officer John O. Miller was fatally shot while attempting to arrest an individual causing a disturbance. The suspect was subsequently apprehended, convicted of second-degree murder, and sentenced to 21 years in prison. In 1918, this sentence was reduced to 10 years. Officer Miller was survived by his wife and one child.
