On May 2, 1979, the dedicated officer with the Arkansas Department of Corrections was participating in a SWAT training exercise at the Cummins Unit. It was during this training that an accidental discharge of a firearm occurred, leading to his untimely death.
Lieutenant Mcpherson, who was born on November 21, 1951, in Pine Bluff, was known for his commitment to public safety
and his service to the citizens of Arkansas.
