In the quiet community of Pearcy, Arkansas, a horrific scene unfolded in the early morning hours of November 12, 2009. Firefighters were dispatched to a mobile home on Old Airport Road that was engulfed in flames. Inside the charred remains of the residence, they made a grim discovery: the bodies of four individuals. The victims were later identified as 24-year-old Jeremy Robert Gentry, a white male, his parents, 56-year-old Edward Earl Gentry Jr. and 52-year-old Pamela Gentry, and Jeremy's 19-year-old girlfriend, Kristyn Nichole Warneke. The tragedy deepened when authorities found the body of Jeremy's 80-year-old grandfather, Edward Gentry Sr., in another building on the same property.
The investigation quickly revealed that this was not a tragic accident but a brutal mass murder. All five victims had been shot to death before the fire was intentionally set to destroy evidence. The state medical examiner later confirmed that Jeremy Gentry died from a single gunshot wound to the head. The other victims also succumbed to gunshot wounds. The ensuing investigation pointed to a robbery, as items including flat-screen televisions, guns, and two sets of rims and tires were stolen from the Gentry's property.
Within a short time, law enforcement identified three suspects in their early twenties: Samuel Conway, Jeremy Pickney, and Marvin Stringer. The break in the case came when the suspects were found in possession of the stolen goods. The attempt to bring the suspects into custody took a violent turn when Marvin Stringer was killed during a shootout with police at a Red Roof Inn. Samuel Conway and Jeremy Pickney were successfully apprehended and faced the justice system for their roles in the quintuple homicide.

Samuel Conway was convicted on multiple counts of capital murder and burglary in June 2011 and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, his case was later retried due to a judicial error, and he eventually pleaded guilty, receiving a 40-year prison sentence. Jeremy Pickney chose to avoid a trial by making a plea bargain. In 2011, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated residential burglary and was sentenced to 50 years in prison. The motive for these violent acts appeared to be rooted in a burglary that escalated into a devastating loss of five innocent lives.
