On a summer evening in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a gathering turned tragic, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Cedric Ginger. The incident, which occurred on July 26, 2014, also left three other individuals wounded. Cedric Ginger was identified as a Black / African American male from Sheridan.
The shooting took place at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Redbud Street. In the wake of the violence, the Pine Bluff Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting.
Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect and a subsequent arrest.
Eric Briggs was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Cedric Ginger. The case proceeded to trial, where the evidence against Briggs was presented to a jury. However, the jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision on his guilt or innocence, resulting in a hung jury. Following the mistrial, there have been no further reported arrests or convictions in the case.
